Ex-Dolton officer sentenced to 75 months in prison

A former South suburban police officer was sentenced to more than six years in prison after he was convicted of civil rights violations for striking two men with a baton outside a nightclub.

Ex-Dolton officer Kevin Fletcher was sentenced to 75 months in prison on Friday for the 2009 attack.

The 36-year-old was convicted in May of two counts of violating the victims’ civil rights.

Prosecutors say the beating happened after the men allegedly cursed at Fletcher when he told them to leave the area. He allegedly said he would “teach them a lesson.” Both required hospital treatment.

Jurors viewed video of the incident.

Fletcher joined the Dolton police force in 2006.
