From magic to classics, Paramount unveils kids’ shows
Showcasing everything from magic shows to a Christmas classic, Paramount Theatre in Aurora unveiled its 2013-14 lineup of kid-friendly programming Friday.
Shows for the coming year, open to families as well as school groups, are:
Ÿ “Mathemagic,” 9:30 a.m. (for grades K-3) and noon (for grades 4-8), Thursday, Oct. 17. The 60-minute magic show emphasizes math and problem solving. Tickets $8.50.
Ÿ “Henry & Mudge,” 9:30 a.m. and noon Wednesday, Dec. 4. Henry gets a friend and a lesson in responsibility from canine Mudge in this Theatreworks production. Tickets $8.50.
Ÿ “A Christmas Carol,” 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7; 1 and 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8; 9 a.m. and noon Monday, Dec. 9. Charles Jones’ adaptation of the Charles Dickens holiday classic features music, dance and more. Tickets $14-$25.
Ÿ “The Magic of Bill Blagg,” 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28. Tickets $25-$35.
Ÿ The Peking Acrobats, 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. Tickets $25-$35.
Ÿ “The Red Sky’s The Great Mountain,” 9:30 a.m. and noon Tuesday, Feb. 18. The Holden & Arts production, inspired by the story “Jumping Mouse,” features an eco-friendly message. Tickets $8.50.
Ÿ “My Heart in a Suitcase,” 9:30 a.m. and noon Thursday, April 24. Artspower’s Holocaust play is suitable for those in grades 4 through 8. Tickets $8.50.
Ÿ “Peter Pan,” 9:30 a.m. and noon Friday, May 9. The classic story of the boy who refused to grow up gets a staging by Theatreworks. Tickets $8.50.
Ÿ “Imagination Movers,” 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18. The performance features singing, dancing and comedy from the stars of the live kid’s show on Disney Junior. Tickets $20-$29.
