Boys soccer/Fox Valley roundup

Nestor Ascencio fed Juan Munoz for the game’s only goal in the first half Thursday night as the Streamwood boys soccer team notched a 1-0 win over Oak Park-River Forest in a consolation game of the Pepsi Showdown.

Sergio Blanco made 5 saves in goal to register the shutout for the Sabres (7-2).

Larkin 1, Glenbrook North 1: In another Pepsi Showdown consolation game, Griffen Perez scored off a Pancho Garcia assist in the second half as Larkin forged a tie. Javy Delgado had 5 saves in goal for the Royals (4-2-3).

Westminster Christian 1, Harvest Christian 0: Chad Thomason scored off a Joey Tyrell assist in the second half to lead the Warriors to a Northeastern Athletic Conference win. Alex Wocjic made 6 saves in goal for Westminster (5-3 overall) and Noah Fox had 2 saves for Harvest (1-2 NAC).

Elgin 7, Elgin Academy 0: Daniel Geary had 2 goals and an assist to lead the Maroons (4-4-2) to a nonconference win. Luis Maldonado, Joel Chavez, Adan Ramirez, Anthony Rodriguez and Zachary Erickson added goals for Elgin, while Roberto Martinez and Edgar Zavala had assists. Falvio Jaimes and Eleno Montes each made 3 saves in the net for the Maroons. Jonathan Shen had 11 saves for Elgin Academy.

CL South 4, Woodstock 0: Stefan Harris scored twice with Ryan Rasmussen and Orlando Tapia adding single goals, while Guz Alvarez made 4 saves in goal for his fifth shutout of the season as the Gators (5-4-2) won this Fox Valley Conference crossover.

Cary-Grove 4, Woodstock North 0: Kevin Wilde found the back of the net twice, while Dale Opasser and Patrick McKune scored once each for the Trojans (7-2), who won their seventh straight game in this FVC crossover. Ethen Csoka made 2 saves in goal for Cary-Grove.

Downers Grove South 2, Bartlett 1: AJ Santori scored off a Justin Busch assist and Andrew Nowak had 6 saves for Bartlett.
