AT&T’s new home exhibit in Arlington store shows off Digital Life

Homeowners considering AT&T’s Digital Life might want to visit the company’s Innovation Center in Arlington Heights.

The center, which opened in November 2011, recently unveiled newly constructed kitchen, home office and living room areas with Digital Life in place.

It’s the only AT&T store nationwide that offers this interactive experience in a lifelike setting to give consumers a better idea of how Digital Life would operate inside a home, said Shawn Glinski, AT&T area retail sales manager.

“It truly feels like what it would look like and experience in your home, like turning on and off the lights or locking the doors,” Glinski said.

The open concept allow customers to walk freely from one room to another and try the services, he said.

Tablets, iPads, smartphones and U-Verse make the settings complete, he said.

The Internet Protocol-based services offer home security and automation. Customers also can learn how to operate their small home appliances, view live video and experience other benefits of Digital Life in a home environment. All of the Digital Life rooms at the store are equipped with the energy package, which enables homeowners to control their appliances, lighting and thermostats for convenience and energy efficiency from any location.

The store, at 585 E. Palatine Road, is the largest nationwide and debuts new concepts like the Digital Life home settings. If it catches on with customers, the setup likely will be used in another stores nationwide, Glinski said.

“As soon as you walk in, your eyes are attuned to the back of the store where the Digital Life experience is,” he said.

Surfing: Baird & Warner has launched a new tool designed to give potential homebuyers and sellers detailed information on their local real estate market. The tool, called Market Insight, uses the Multiple Listing Service to create interactive reports that provide statistics such as sold homes, properties for sale, inventory levels and days on market. Market Insight is available under My Real Estate Portal on BairdWarner.com. To start receiving Market Insight information, the user will select a starting point and then choose a search field anywhere from a quarter mile to a 10-mile area centered around that point. Once the user has selected a preferred area, he or she can choose to receive emails that provide all of the real estate transactions and details specific to that selection.
