Prospect wins Zion-Benton Invite

Prospect’s boys golf team herded together a winning effort on Saturday at Shepherd’s Crook Colf Course.

The Knights shot 314 to take top team honors in the 19-team invitational hosted by Zion-Benton. Lake Forest was 1 stroke behind in second place, and St. Viator shot 319 to take third.

Senior Josh Johnson had the top Prospect finish, earning the sixth-place medal after shooting 77 on the par 71 layout. Close behind were senior Reid Dahlstrom (11th, 78), junior Grant Gavin (15th, 79) and senior Jacob Schwister (80).

St. Viator’s Robert Renner and Lake Forest’s Sean Casey had the individual low rounds of the day, 74. Nick Carlson shot 80 for the Lions.

Fremd, which finished sixth at 329, was led by Jamie Drost’s 78 and Dylan Norys’ 81.

Ÿ Barrington shot 308 on Day 1 of the Mattoon Invitational and 324 on Day 2 for a total of 632 and the third-place team position. Quincy won at 624, with Normal Community in second at 627.

Brad Powell had the Broncos’ best two-day score, shooting 78 on Day 1 and 79 on Day 2. Tim Lim led Barrington with a 75 on Day 1.
