Dundee-Crown 2nd at West Chicago

Dundee-Crown’s girls volleyball team finished 4-1 and in second place at the West Chicago tournament Saturday. The Chargers beat West Chicago, Fenton, Kaneland and Rockford Lutheran before falling to West Chicago in the championship match 25-23, 25-16.

Leading D-C (8-6) in the tournament were Emily Michalski (12 kills, 9 blocks), Frankie Cavallaro (11 kills, 38 assists, 7 aces), Ashley Raby (9 kills, 5 blocks), Kiana Mays (8 kills), Kailey Moll (7 kills, 13 blocks), Lauren Lococo (6 kills, 10 digs), Kaylee Sommers (14 digs, 3 aces), Franki Scarpelli (10 digs) and Payton DeLuga (9 digs).

Larkin 4th: Larkin took fourth place at the West Chicago tournament, beating Bartlett, Elgin and Rockford Lutheran before losing to West Chicago in the semifinals and then to Rockford Lutheran 21-25, 25-14, 25-20 in the third-place match. Olivia Kofie (47 kills, 9 aces, 29 digs), Brianna Stewart (38 kills, 3 aces, 12 assists, 6 blocks, 35 digs), Natalie Kofie (9 kills, 83 assists, 17 digs), Mia Gill (8 aces, 36 digs), Paige Grantham (6 blocks, 7 aces, 6 kills), Alyssa McGhee (3 aces, 2 kills, 7 assists, 12 digs) and Alexis Price (13 kills, 2 aces, 6 digs) led the Royals.

At Aurora Christian: Hampshire went 3-2 at the Aurora Christian tournament, beating Harvard, Woodstock and Aurora Christian but losing to Homewood-Flossmoor and Glenbard South. Aaron Foss (22 kills, 27 digs, 6 aces), Kayla Kienzler (10 aces, 12 kills, 9 digs), Julianna Gass (44 digs, 7 aces), Jen Moerke (13 digs) and Sara Finn (18 digs) led the Whip-Purs. Brittany Laffin added 18 assists and 5 aces while Val Wozniak had 11 assists.
