Reputed street gang member sentenced

CHICAGO — A Chicago judge has sentenced a reputed street-gang member to 70 years in prison for killing a rival n 2010.

Cook County prosecutors say Dennis "Tony" Mahone belongs to the Four Corner Hustlers. The 25-year-old was convicted of first-degree murder after a bench trial.

Prosecutors say Mahone emerged from an abandoned house and shot 19-year-old Vincent Cole six times as the victim sat in his car at an intersection. After getting off eight shots from a sidewalk, he fled on foot.

The trial evidence included video footage of the shooting from a currency-exchange security camera.

Mahone was captured three weeks later after firing shots at another man with a semi-automatic handgun. In that attack, Mahone accidentally shot himself in the leg.

Judge Noreen Love sentenced Mahone this week.
