Bloomingdale man arrested in Bartlett after shots fired into ground

A Bloomingdale man is in police custody after a witness reported he discharged a firearm Thursday afternoon in Bartlett, according to a news release.

Michael Magnafichi, 51, of the 0-100 block of Bloomingdale Place, has been charged with unlawful use or possession of a weapon by a felon.

According to police, Magnafichi also had a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear in DuPage County Court for a retail theft offense.

Police responded to the area of Newport Boulevard and Dunamon Drive around 1:15 p.m. Thursday to investigate a report of a male subject shooting a firearm into the ground behind a residence in the 1100 block of Longford Road.

Upon arrival, police located Magnafichi and a .40 caliber handgun. He was transported to DuPage County Jail in Wheaton.
