Maine Twp. road repairs coming

Roadway improvements in Maine Township are among the $13.6 million in Cook County projects being paid for by the state of Illinois to help energize the local economy, Gov. Pat Quinn announced Thursday. About $117,175 will be spent on Harrison Street from Meadow Lane to Dee Road, and at Central and Dee roads, to build sidewalks, add traffic controls and make street crossing improvements. The work will be done by Sumit Construction Co., Inc. of Chicago, the lowest of eight bidders. The projects will be managed by the Illinois Department of Transportation. “These construction projects will improve transportation safety and efficiency in Cook County,” Quinn said in a news release. “They will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well.”
