Naperville man charged with reckless driving, dad accused of trying to take rap
A Naperville man is accused of driving his car 124 mph through a residential neighborhood. And his father also is charged for trying to take the rap.
Konnor Burns, 24, is charged with speeding, DUI and reckless driving after he initially drove his white Dodge Charger at 103 mph past a parked police officer on Naperville Road at 2 a.m. Saturday, police Sgt. Lou Cammiso said.
The officer decided he would be unable to catch Burns and returned to his location. But white Charger was seen again, this time traveling at 124 mph, Cammiso said.
He said the officer recognized Burns behind the wheel of the vehicle, and drove to his house on the 1000 block of Sheringham Drive in time to see Burns walking inside.
When the officer knocked on the door, Burns' father, William, 60, told the officer that he was behind the wheel of the vehicle. The officer discounted the story, and charged the father with interfering with police.
Burns posted $300 and was released from custody, Cammiso said. His next court date is unknown at this time.
