Thode paces Antioch’s best effort

Hot, sticky weather didn’t bother Antioch golfer Kyle Thode on Wednesday.

Thode fired a 2-over-par 37 — the Sequoits’ best score of the season — and Antioch (161) earned a North Suburban Conference Prairie Division win over visiting Grant (201) at Spring Valley Country Club in Salem, Wis.

Besides the score of Thode, who earned medalist honors, Antioch received a 40 from Bailey Moser and 42s from Dillon Kreutzer and Cody Albrecht.

Sam Saghafi’s 45 paced Grant.

Lake Forest d. Lake Zurich, Libertyville: At Hawthorn Woods, Alex Georges’ 36 led the Scouts (152) past Libertyville (157) and Lake Zurich (163) in North Suburban Lake action.

Billy Knutson (37) and Jack Lipp (39) led Libertyville. Matt Clarkson and Jacob Edwards each shot a 40 for Lake Zurich.

Vernon Hills d. Johnsburg: At White Deer Run, the host Cougars carded a 163 in earning a nonconference win over the Skyhawks (180).

Vernon Hills was led by medalist Ricky Schmidt’s 2-over-par 38, which was 1 shot better than teammate John Goehrke.

Woodstock d. Grayslake North: At Plum Tree National Golf Course in Harvard, the visiting Knights (177) were edged out by the Blue Streaks (176).

Christian DiBerardino shot a team-best 41 for Grayslake North.
