Downers Grove man gets probation for copper theft

A Downers Grove man pleaded guilty to stealing copper wire from the Rolling Meadows electronics firm where he worked and selling it to an Aurora recycling company, court records show.

Peter Dang, 52, was sentenced to 18 months probation and ordered to pay $31,258 restitution in exchange for his guilty plea to the charge, which court records show was amended to a misdemeanor.

Dang has no criminal background.

Prosecutors say he took the copper between March 17, 2012, and March 16, 2013, and sold it to Get Green Recycling in Aurora.
