Missing the vibrant city of days gone by

What has happened to Rolling Meadows?

Can you remember the north shopping center which was full of shops and businesses for various needs — an Ace Hardware store, a liquor store, Crawford’s, a snack shop, a bakery, a drugstore etc. On the south side of Kirchoff we had a Grant’s, later another drugstore, a Ward’s Outlet, a cleaners, a pizza parlor and a Dominick’s.

We are a ghost city as far as shopping on the north side of town. There are promises, promises; but all we get are empty results.

Have we become so exclusive with so many restrictions that we discourage potential new businesses? Do we have the right people in those chairs that make the decisions pro or con as to what businesses are best for our city?

Can’t we again be the wonderful city of the 60s? We have lost all of the events that brought us together as families and neighbors. Wake up politicians of Rolling Meadows before our great city is an entire ghost town!
