Fire guts Gurnee shed

Gurnee firefighters responded early Friday morning to a shed on fire next to a church, authorities said.

The wooden shed, attached to a barn on the property of First Christian Church, 6080 Gages Lake Road, caught on fire about 5:15 a.m., according to Batallion Chief Bob Heraver of the Gurnee Fire Department.

The shed was fully involved in fire when firefighters arrived to the scene, and it was extending into the attached barn, Heraver said.

But it only took crews about 10 minutes to put the blaze out, he said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A damage estimate was not available.
