Boomers boast best manager, broadcaster

The playoff-bound Schaumburg Boomers have received more honors this week after being named the Frontier League’s Organization of the Year Tuesday. Second-year skipper Jamie Bennett was named Manager of the Year, Designated Hitter Steve McQuail was named to the Post-Season All-Star Team and Tim Calderwood is Broadcaster of the Year.

“It’s a great honor and I am truly humbled,” Bennett said of his Manager of the Year title. “As much as it is an individual award, it’s really a testament to these players and this coaching staff. Nothing would be possible without contributions from everyone here, and I’m grateful to this group of men for all of their hard work so far this season.”
