Carmel tops Marian Central in 2
Girls volleyball
Carmel d. Marian Central: The host Corsairs won 25-16, 25-18, as Alyssa Armada led the way with 18 assists, 3 kills, 1 ace and 1 block.
Grace Schofield added 6 kills, 4 aces, 2 digs and 1 block.
“Our serving tonight was the difference maker,” Carmel coach David Pazely said. “ We had 10 aces over 2 sets and kept their offense out of system most of the night with our aggressive serving. Kills were spread around to every hitter which means tonight was a team win.”
Carmel totaled 15 digs.
“Our defense was everywhere and almost always in the right position to get a touch,” Pazely said. “Overall, tonight’s win was a great way to reset the tone from a tough loss against Lake Zurich on Tuesday. We are back in the driver’s seat and looking forward to having a strong showing this Saturday at Grayslake’s Ram Slam tournament.
CL Central d. Grayslake North: The Knights fell 25-20, 25-23, despite Alaina Geissberger’s 7 blocks and 3 kills.
Nicole LeBaron also had 3 kills for Grayslake North.
