Wings Over Waukegan air show hits the runway Sept. 7

The annual Wings Over Waukegan air show will invade the lake shore Saturday, Sept. 7.

The show begins at noon at the Waukegan Airport, 3580 N. McAree Road. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. and the show runs until 4 p.m.

This year’s lineup includes a downed flier re-enactment; aerobatic team demonstrations; aircraft displays; classic warbirds; modern military aircraft.

This year’s performers feature Team Aerostar, the Hopper Flight Team and the Trojan Horsemen. Aircraft scheduled to appear include an F4U Corsair, an A-4 Skyhawk, a T-2 Buckeye and a C-47 Skytrain.

Admission is $10 at the gate and free for kids ages 12 and younger; parking is free.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the event. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

A general seating area will be set up, but space is limited. Additionally, people need to bring their own chairs or blankets.
