Ÿ Kaitlyn A. Degrenier, 24, of the 400 block of Northwest Highway, Barrington, was charged Tuesday with burglary, aggravated battery to a peace officer, retail theft and obstructing identification, according to court records. Degrenier is accused of taking $300 in merchandise from a big box store on the 1100 block of South Randall Road and striking a store security guard, then during a traffic stop, giving police a false name and date of birth, police said. Degrenier’s bail was set at $35,000, and her next court date is Sept. 12.

Kane County

Ÿ Lawn equipment was discovered stolen from trailers in the 12N400 block of Switzer Road near Elgin at 12:21 a.m. Sunday after authorities responded to an activated burglar alarm, according to a sheriff’s report. A hole also was cut into a chain-link fence surrounding the trailers to gain access.
