3 arrested after Mundelein robbery

Mundelein police have arrested three suspects in the Aug. 9 armed robbery of a local store.

Charged with aggravated robbery were:

Ÿ Christian Romero-Nuno, 21, of the 1600 block of Grove Street in Round Lake Beach.

Ÿ Jose L. Morales, 23, of the 300 block of Willow Drive in Round Lake Park.

Ÿ Jesus R. Llanos, 31, also of the 300 block of Willow Drive in Round Lake Park.

Additionally, Romero-Nuno was charged with aggravated assault.

Morales also was charged with aggravated assault, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of ammunition without a firearm owner identification card.

Llanos also was charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

The robbery occurred at Supermercado Vargas Grocery, 818 S. Lake St. Each robber was armed with a handgun, police said, and they fled with cash.

No customers or employees in the store were hurt, police said.

DNA evidence from the store led police to one of the suspects. On Saturday, the three men were arrested after a search warrant was served at the Willow Drive address in Round Lake Park. Drugs and evidence tying the men to the robbery were recovered, police said.
