Northwestern cornerback out for rest of season

Northwestern cornerback Daniel Jones will have season-ending knee surgery.

Coach Pat Fitzgerald said Monday that Jones will miss the rest of the year after he was injured in the first half of the Wildcats’ season-opening win at California on Saturday.

Jones started the final seven games as a sophomore last season and finished with 33 tackles and four passes defended.

Quarterback Kain Colter is day to day after suffering a concussion on the second play from scrimmage against California as is running back Venric Mark, who was hampered by an injury in the opener.
