Pedestrian killed crossing Indianapolis street

INDIANAPOLIS — Police say an SUV struck and killed a man who was walking across a main street on the south side of Indianapolis.

City police say the man was crossing Madison Avenue when he was hit about 10:45 p.m. Sunday. The driver told officers he wasn’t able to stop in time to avoid hitting the man after spotting him.
