Boys soccer/Fox Valley roundup

The Larkin boys soccer team improved to 3-0 on the season Thursday night with a 3-0 nonconference win over Riverside-Brookfield at Memorial Field.

Ricky Nava, Hector Mendoza and Moises Raya each had goals for the Royals. Leo Perez had 4 saves in net and Griffin Perez, Jesus Avilar and Diego Ramirez each notched assists.

Dundee-Crown 2, Waukegan 0: D-C’s Carlos Ramos put in a cross past the right post from Eduardo Arellano for the only score as the Chargers improved to 2-0 overall at the Lake Forest Tournament. Jose Gonzalez had 7 saves in net for the Chargers, including a key penalty kick in the first half. Dundee-Crown will play Carmel in the championship game on Saturday at 10 a.m.

St. Edward 2, Westminster Christian 0: The Green Wave moved to 2-0 defeating the Warriors (1-1) with goals in each half. Matt Hesch and Austin Pfeiffer scored while Joe French and Alex Semler were credited with assists and John Gotheridge had 6 saves in goal for the Green Wave. Alex Wocjic had 7 saves for Westminster Christian.

Neuqua Valley 1, Bartlett 0: Xavi Ortiz’s breakaway goal in the 20th minute proved to be the difference in this Upstate Eight Valley tilt. While the Hawks had scoring chances throughout, Justin Busch had 4 saves in goal for Bartlett.

Huntley 3, Lake Park 3: After trailing by a goal in the first half, the Red Raiders (2-0-1) managed to avoid a loss by scoring 3 times in the final 40 minutes. Niko Mihalopolous scored twice and assisted on David Pardo’s goal in the 55th minute in nonconference action against the Lancers. Austin Emery had 9 saves in net.

Elk Grove 5, Crystal Lake South 1: Austin Lamping scored the lone goal for the Gators (1-1), who dropped a nonconference game to the Grenaiders. Goalkeeper Gus Alvarez was busy with 11 saves.

Jacobs 1, Prospect 1: The Golden Eagles and Knights settled for a tie in nonconference play. Tim Hubner scored the only goal for the Golden Eagles in the 27th minute and Ean Wilson was credited with the assist.

East Aurora 2, South Elgin 0: Goalkeeper Richard Gorenwenger had 7 saves but the Storm were shutout in this Upstate Eight Valley loss.
