Stevenson shuts out Schurz
Jimmy Wang scored in each half, and that’s all Stevenson’s boys soccer team needed, as the Patriots blanked Schurz 2-0 in the Glenbrook South invite Thursday.
Jeremy Klaber made 4 saves in earning the shutout for Stevenson (3-0).
Warren 4, Loyola Academy 0: At Glenbrook South, Rafa Macias and Karl Bappert each had a goal and an assist for the Blue Devils, who notched their first win.
Warren (1-0-1) also got goals from Jin Kwon and Jacob Luka. R.J. Hills earned the shutout in goal.
Antioch 8, Westosha Central 0: The Sequoits improved to 3-0 with their third shutout, as JR Lonergan and Iven Hernandez each scored twice.
Krystian Streit, Logan Bouker, Bobby Miranda and Thomas Furlong also scored. Hernandez added a pair of assists, as did Bouker. Tommy Tritschler, Jeremy Pasterz and Conner Gugel shared the shutout in goal.
Vernon Hills 8, Richmond-Burton 0: Ilya Kravstev had 2 goals and an assist for the Cougars in their own tournament game.
Jeremy Cohen added a goal and 2 assists for Vernon Hills (2-0, 2-0). Matt Hong, Chris White, David White, John Orozco and Ricardo Ceja also scored. Keeper Jonathan Ramirez recorded the clean sheet.
Grayslake North 2, Zion-Benton 1: At Vernon Hills, junior Gavin Amburn and sophomore Cole Karabinus each had a goal and an assist for the Knights (2-1), who were up 1-0 at halftime.
Coach Adam DeCaluwe’s other “standouts,” he said, were senior midfielder Andreas Thedorf, junior defender Dylan Harmon and junior defender Lucas Buckels. Junior goalie Shane Boyd made 4 saves.
Grayslake Central 4, St. Patrick 3: Isaac Longenecker, Jacob Shwaiko, freshman Leo Orozco and Joey Mudd all scored for the Rams.
Mudd netted the winner with less than a minute left in the game. It was the only goal of the second half.
