Train strikes, kills pedestrian in Wheaton

A 37-year-old man was struck and killed Thursday morning by an eastbound freight train near North Hale Street and the Union Pacific railroad tracks in Wheaton, authorities said.

Police said the train struck the man about 7:45 a.m. The victim was found on the middle tracks midway between North President Street and Chase Street.

There is no railroad crossing at the site, police said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
