Two Lake County deputies and a detective were hospitalized and four people are in custody after a fight Thursday afternoon in an unincorporated area near Grayslake.
The incident took place about 1:45 p.m. on the 17300 block of West Dartmoor Drive.
According to information provided by Lt. Christopher Thompson, a detective was following up on a complaint of possible drug trafficking when he saw two people in possession of cannabis in a yard on the block.
After the detective confronted the two people and attempted to take one into custody, 19-year-old Michael Musson began to resist and placed the detective into a headlock.
According to witnesses who were interviewed later, three other people punched and kicked the detective as he lay on the ground.
After the detective called for backup, two uniformed deputies arrived and wound up being drawn into the fray. The deputies were punched in the face multiple times.
Ultimately, both the deputies and the detective were able to take control of the situation. In the process, they used pepper spray on Musson.
The detective and the deputies were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where one deputy received stitches near his mouth and the other deputy was treated for head injuries and a possible wrist injury. The detective was treated for injuries to his neck and ribs.
All three were released from the hospital and will be monitored by the sheriff's department.
Musson was taken to Condell for examination after being pepper sprayed, then was moved to the Lake County jail.
Musson, of the 17300 block of West Dartmoor Drive, was charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery to a peace officer and two counts of resisting arrest, as well as one count of obstruction of justice.
Anthony Camarda, 20, of the 4400 block of Longmeadow Drive in Gurnee, was charged with three counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, three counts of felony resisting arrest and one county f obstruction of justice.
Sophia Camarda, 18, of the 4400 block of Longmeadow Drive, was charged with three counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, two counts of felony resisting arrest and one count of misdemeanor resisting arrest.
And Arona Musson, 55, of the 17300 block of West Dartmoor Drive, was charged with one count of aggravated battery to a peace officer and one count of felony resisting arrest.
All four are in custody at the jail awaiting a bond hearing at 9 a.m. Friday in Waukegan.
