State spends $23 million on SIUE construction

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — The state of Illinois is providing $23 million to finish a construction project at the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

Gov. Pat Quinn joined university officials on campus Tuesday to announce the funding.

The university’s Science Laboratory will be updated with new climate controls, windows and other upgrades. The governor’s office said in a news release the work will complement an already completed $52 million science building.

The money comes from the state’s Illinois Jobs Now! capital construction fund.
