Man charged in baseball attack on Chicago officer
A 29-year-old Chicago man has been charged with attacking a police officer with a baseball bat.
Tythia Thigpen is charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery to a peace officer, among other charges.
Police say Thigpen hit an officer in the head with a bat early Saturday while the officer was trying to break up a street fight on the city’s South Side.
The officer was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition after the attack, but has since been released.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Thigpen had an attorney and his telephone number wasn’t listed.
