Cook County looking for Metra board replacement

A member of the Cook County Board is asking for applications to be on the Metra board of directors.

County Commissioner Jeff Tobolski put out a news release Wednesday asking applicants to send resumes and cover letters. Metra Board Chairman Brad O’Halloran has resigned along with four other board members as the suburban rail agency deals with the fallout from allegations of improper dealings with politicians.

Tobolski and other Cook County commissioners are responsible for appointing a replacement for O’Halloran. Tobolski says it’s important because the board is one resignation away from not having a quorum. He says he wants to make the nomination process “as transparent and open as possible.”

The only requirement for the job is that the nominee live in Metra District 3.
