The Illinois Commerce Commission will host a meeting Friday where the installation of electricity “smart meters” will be discussed.

The ICC will conduct the joint meeting of the Electric and Consumer Affairs policy committees at its main hearing room in downtown Chicago at the Michael A. Bilandic Building.

Energy-saving “smart meters” are scheduled to be installed at locations provided electrical service by ComEd and in most locations served by Ameren.

Members of the joint committee will discuss the meters and “deployment schedules” in the ComEd and Ameren service areas.
