Man dies in apparent drowning in Lincoln County

TOMAHAWK, Wis. — Lincoln County authorities have recovered the body of a 67-year-old Tomahawk man who apparently drowned after leaving his pontoon boat to help a dog.

A WSAW-TV report says deputies received a call Sunday about 4:30 p.m. reporting that a man disappeared from his pontoon boat in the town of Tomahawk. A witness says the man went into the water to help the dog, but the man and dog struggled and the man sank beneath the surface.

Rescuers found his body two hours later in water that was about 5½ feet deep.

The victim is originally from the Milwaukee area. His name has not been released.
