2 hit by blowgun darts at U of I

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Champaign police say two people have been shot with blowgun darts as they walked at the University of Illinois campus this week.

Police said Wednesday that both victims were shot Tuesday night in the same area in the central part of the campus.

One dart hit a 20-year-old woman in her left forearm as she walked through a cross walk. Later that night a 35-year-old man was struck in his left forearm.

Police say both were treated for their injuries at a local hospital.

Officers are investigating but say they have no suspects.

Thousands of University of Illinois students have been returning to campus this week ahead of the start of fall classes Monday.
