Hoffman Estates man charged with sex assault

A Hoffman Estates man was arrested Friday and charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl he knew, authorities said.
Eduardo D. Mateos, 32, of the 700 block of Salem Drive, was charged with two felony counts of criminal sexual assault.
Hoffman Estates Police Sgt. Darin Felgenhauer said the assault occurred late in the evening of Aug. 9 at Mateos' apartment. On Aug. 12, police received a call from officials at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights to report the assault.
A police investigation this week resulted in Mateos' arrest Friday, police said.
