Small fire at Dist. 214 school

A small fire caused minimal damage at Forest View Alternative School in Arlington Heights early Thursday morning, according to officials.

Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at the center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, around midnight, according to an Arlington Heights fire department spokesman.

The fire was contained to a cart in a lab area used for carpentry projects, according to officials. It caused some sprinklers to go off, which appear to have kept the fire under control, the spokesman said.

There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

This is the second fire in three days on District 214 property. On Tuesday afternoon, a tar kettle used by workers resurfacing Wheeling High School’s roof caught fire outside the school.
