Trendy Tots marks two years with party, food drive

In its two years along the Randall Road corridor in Carpentersville, Trendy Tots Consignment shop has grown to become a part of the community.

The store, at 7020 Huntley Road, has also created its own community within the store, with buyers and sellers now becoming familiar faces and friends to owner Tammi Rojek.

“Trendy Tots is an amazing place where I get to spend my time each day. I love my employees, customers and consignors,” Rojeck said. “I have met some of the most amazing people these past two years. I meet someone new every day, and it has been a blessing to me.

“We hear such positive comments about our store from our customers and consignors. It’s great that we can offer them a friendly place to shop and to recycle their clothes,” she said.

The store sells new and gently used clothing and accessories for babies through teens on consignment. It also has toys, books and more. In November, Trendy Tots also added a women’s section.

In addition to selling affordable clothing and helping people make money by selling their old clothing, Rojek says the store also stresses giving back to the community.

When people bring in items and they don’t sell, the store offers customers the option of taking the clothing back or having the store donate them to a local charity. Many choose that option, Rojek said, knowing they will go to a good cause in the area.

Rojek has also organized many other charitable events at the store, including an upcoming food drive that runs through August that will be part of its two-year anniversary celebration this weekend.

Trendy Tots will be collecting canned goods through Aug. 31 for the FISH Food Pantry.

“We are always trying to give back to the community, whether it’s a diaper drive, a food drive or donating hundreds of clothing and kids’ items to charity each month,” she said.

“I have been very blessed to have this store and I want to continue to use it to bless others in any and every way that I can. That is the whole concept behind my store, offering people a way to recycle their clothing and to be able to clothe themselves and their kids in an affordable way.”

Along with the food drive, Trendy Tots is holding an anniversary celebration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, that will have food, music, fun and games for the family.

Rojek said it will be fun to celebrate how far the store has come in its two years, and to look forward to the future at the anniversary party.

“I can’t believe that it has been two years already,” she said. “I keep doing the math to make sure it’s not one year. Time has flown by and it feels great that we have already been here for two years.”
