Driver faces DUI charge in Oak Brook crash that injured two teens

A man accused of driving drunk in an Oak Brook crash that injured two teenagers was jailed Tuesday on $200,000 bail, authorities said.

Jamie Delara-Rodriguez, 25, of the 800 block of Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence.

Delara-Rodriguez was driving south on Meyers Road in Oak Brook about 6:30 p.m. Sunday when he went over the center median and crashed head-on into a vehicle occupied by 18-year-old Downers Grove residents Connor Dimmick and Meghan Landry, prosecutors said.

Authorities said Dimmick, who had been in the driver's seat, was treated at a hospital and released while Landry remained in the hospital Tuesday with serious injuries.

Prosecutors said an investigation showed Delara-Rodriguez had a blood alcohol content of 0.178, more than twice the 0.08 legal threshold.

DuPage County State's Attorney Bob Berlin on Tuesday called the crash “horrific.”

“Thankfully, no lives were lost,” he said. “However, the lives of the victims have undoubtedly been changed, as they were both preparing to begin college this fall.”

In bond court, Judge Elizabeth Sexton set bail at $200,000, meaning Delara-Rodriguez would have to post $20,000 to be released.

If convicted, he could face up to 12 years in prison, authorities said. His next court date is Sept. 9 in front of Judge Robert Kleeman.
