More human remains found in Mackinaw River
KAPPA — More body parts were found in a central Illinois river and authorities believe they belong to a 74-year-old man whose remains were found in two counties.
The two more sets of remains were found Sunday afternoon in the Mackinaw River near Kappa. They were found about a quarter mile from the spot where a man’s torso was found Aug. 3. He’d been shot. Other remains were found in a Woodford County farmhouse.
McLean County Coroner Beth Kimmerling says investigators believe the body parts belong to 74-year-old Oakley Mitchell of Secor (SEE’-kor), but they’re waiting for DNA tests.
Two people are facing charges in connection with Mitchell’s death.
Twenty-four-year-old Vishawn Mills and 23-year-old Rayshawn Johnson were arrested last week. Mills is charged with murder, while Johnson is charged with concealing murder.
