WRLR hosts GEO awards

The 4th annual Geo Awards are set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Cultural & Civic Center of Round Lake Beach, off Hook Drive west of Route 83. Each year, WRLR 98.3 based in Round Lake Heights hosts this event to honor the people and organizations that have contributed their time, effort and financial support to keep the community station operating. Individual tickets are available for $25 or a table of 8 for $175. The public is welcome. The Geo Award is named after the late-Senator Adeline Geo-Karis, who was well known in Lake County as “Geo”. She was an early supporter of the station and helped it obtain funding to acquire broadcast equipment. Checks should be sent to WRLR — GEO AWARDS, P.O. Box 98, Round Lake, IL 60073 and need to arrive by Aug. 18. Email studio@wrlr.fm for information.
