Colon’s homer boosts Boomers

Schaumburg has won five straight, 11 of 12, and owns an eight-game road win streak, longest in the Frontier League this season.

The Boomers held a brief 1-0 lead in the third before a 2-run homer from Aaron Dudley put the CornBelters ahead and started a back-and-forth scenario — with Normal retaking the lead every time the Boomers responded. Schaumburg trailed 2-1, 3-2, and 4-3 before the homer from Colon, who finished with 2 hits.

The Boomers needed six different pitchers after starter Cody Griebling exited with an injury following just over 3 innings of work. James Bierlein bridged the gap in relief to earn the win while Dexter Price worked the ninth for his ninth save.
