Letter lacks evidence on voting claims

In the Aug. 3 edition, Alfred Y. Kirkland Jr., in his attempt at Republican-bashing, claims that, “Today’s Republican politicians in Texas, in North Carolina, and in other states as well ... are seeking to cheat black and brown people out of their opportunity to vote, by selectively making it as inconvenient as possible for them.” This shows us once again that the First Amendment of our Constitution allow anyone to make outrageous and vague accusations without citing examples.

Mr. Kirkland claims the nasty Republicans make voting by black and brown people inconvenient, but he doesn’t state how. For instance, is there a dress code for racial minorities to vote that isn’t a requirement for white people, Native American and Asian people. That would be an inconvenience. Perhaps there’s a requirement that only minorities must recite the second stanza of our national anthem in order to cast a vote. Talk about inconvenience! I’d have to spend hours learning that.

Perhaps only black and brown people are required to do 20 pushups in order to vote.

So, as any fool can plainly see, Mr. Kirkland, if you are going to level an accusation against someone, get specific.
