Credit Democrats for consolidation bill

Gov. Pat Quinn’s signing of SB 494 corrected a problem that has been around for 40 years during Republican rule in DuPage County. SB 494 allows for the elimination or consolidation of certain governmental entities that are outdated and inefficient. It took House and Senate Democrats to pass a bill that was apparently never considered by the Republican House and Senate members who dominated DuPage politics for years.

It was signed by a governor who continues to do the right thing for DuPage County and the state of Illinois. Quinn said it best about the bill, “This is the best medicine to take on bureaucracy and excessive, wasteful duplicative government.”
