Boomers game postponed

Severe weather Wednesday forced the postponement of the opener of a six-game road trip for the Schaumburg Boomers (40-29) at the Normal CornBelters.

The game will be played today as part of a doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m., with both games scheduled for seven innings. This doubleheader is the first of two on the road trip, as the Boomers will play Evansville twice Saturday. The Boomers are 5-5 in doubleheaders this season, with three splits, one sweep and once being swept.

The Boomers (40-29), who have won eight of their last nine games, will send right-handers Mike Giovenco (7-4, 3.56 ERA) and Chris Phelan (4-1, 2.02) against right-handers Drew Provence (4-4, 3.09) and Jose Trinidad (4-4, 4.38).
