Baby dolphin born at Brookfield Zoo
There’s a new baby dolphin at the Brookfield Zoo.
The zoo announced the calf’s birth on Tuesday. Zoo officials say the baby was born Friday. The calf weighs 40 pounds and is 3 feet long. The mother is 26-year-old bottlenose dolphin Allie.
Zoo officials say the new baby appears healthy and strong. But the zoo has canceled its dolphin shows and closed the underwater viewing area to give the new family time to bond and adjust.
