Schaumburg Boomers roll to 11-3 victory

The Schaumburg Boomers scored in five consecutive innings to soar past the visiting Rockford Aviators 11-3 on Monday night and win the series.

The Boomers scored 2 runs in the second.

Jordan Dean collected a two-out single to bring home Michael Valadez and Keith Werman. Steve McQuail roped his 15th homer of the season over the wall in left in the third to extend the lead.

Rockford put 2 on the board in the fourth to claw within 3-2, but the Boomers immediately responded with 3 in the bottom half on a bases-clearing double from Gerard Hall.

Schaumburg added a run in the fifth and 4 in the sixth.

Matt Kuna (6-3) earned the win, working 5 innings. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits with a walk and 2 strikeouts. The Boomers lashed 15 hits, with McQuail posting a 5-for-5 night to match the team record for hits in a game. Chad Mozingo posted 5 hits on August 19, 2012.

Dean added 3 hits.

Devon Pearson, James Bierlein, and Tony Delmonico finished out the game in relief of Kuna.

The Boomers (40-29) have won eight of the last nine games and will hit the road for a six-game trip following an off-day Tuesday. They return home Aug. 13.
