Webster, Boomers win 3-1

Seth Webster pitched the third nine-inning complete game in franchise history in a 3-1 victory for the Schaumburg Boomers over the Rockford Aviators on Sunday.

Webster allowed just 4 hits and an unearned run. The rookie right-hander from Louisiana trusted his defense all day, striking out a pair while not issuing a walk.

The complete game was the second of the season for the Boomers and the first nine-inning complete game since Cody Griebling downed Joliet on July 27, 2012.

The Boomers provided the run support in the second and third innings. Frank Pfister doubled home Steve McQuail in the second, and McQuail and Brian McConkey notched two-out RBI singles in the third for a 3-0 lead.

Gerard Hall, McQuail and Keith Werman each had 2 hits as the Boomers finished with 9. Schaumburg has collected 9 or more hits in five straight games.

The Boomers (39-29) conclude the series at Boomers Stadium on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
