Batavia High School Students Receive Page McCloud Theatre Scholarship

Batavia High School graduating seniors Claire Heronemus and Eric Poulos were named the 2013 recipients of the Page McCloud Scholarship. Typically, one $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a student who will continue studying Theatre or Theatre Education as a major or minor/related field as a part of an undergraduate program. This year, parent organization STAGE (Supporting Theatre Arts for a Greater Education) matched the money so that two scholarships could be given. The scholarship was created to honor teacher Page McCloud's 33 years of dedication to the high school's drama program.

Claire, who will be a Theatre major at Carthage College, has been seen in 15 shows in the past four years including "Twelve Angry Jurors", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Dearly Beloved", "9 to 5" and "Marvin's Room". Of Eric's many performances, his favorite shows include "Great Expectations", "Marvin's Room", "Beauty and the Beast", "Arsenic and Old Lace", and "9 to 5". He will be pursuing his Theatre degree at Columbia College. Both students have appeared in and directed One Acts and served on the Tour Team at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre. Additionally, Claire has been a BFAC intern and Eric was a member of the improv team "But, Seriously Folks."

STAGE, formed in October 2005, supports, encourages, maintains, and promotes the theatre programs at Rotolo Middle School and Batavia High School.
