Boy killed by truck on Oakton Street identified

The 4-year-old Chicago boy struck and killed by a semi in an unincorporated area near Elk Grove Village on Monday has been identified as Jaden Jacobo, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Cook County Sheriff’s Police spokesman Ben Breit said Jaden had been visiting relatives and riding a bike in a driveway on the 2200 block of Oakton Street in unincorporated Cook County just before the collision about 1:30 p.m.

A westbound truck pulling a 53-foot trailer struck the boy after he rode too close to the street, Breit said.

The driver of the truck stopped and attempted to assist Jaden and his family, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

No citations are expected from what is considered a tragic accident, Breit said.

Tuesday’s autopsy officially declared Jaden’s death an accident.
