Exchange Club establishes Honor Flight

The Exchange Club of North Chicago has become an official Honor Flight Hub that will transport veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. The Exchange Club of North Chicago is the first and only Exchange Club in the nation that has taken such measures in initiating an Honor Flight Hub, according to the organization. The first trip is planned for this fall. A ceremony is set for noon on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the North Chicago Community Days celebration. The event will include a “Dunk a Mayor” fundraiser with Leon Rockingham of North Chicago and Kristina Kovarik of Gurnee and other special guests. Community Days runs Friday through Sunday on the 1700 block of Lewis Avenue. Visit the calendar at www.northchicago.org.
