Williamson, Bandits control Comets

Andi Williamson earned her sixth victory of the season as the host Chicago Bandits earned a 12-3 win against the New York/New Jersey Comets.

Williams improved upon the best record in the league for rookie pitchers this season.

The Bandits threatened in the first with a leadoff walk from Megan Wiggins, who advanced from second on a sacrifice bunt from Amber Patton. Alisa Goler was intentionally walked, but two straight long flyouts left the pair stranded, sending the game into the second inning scoreless.

Megan Wiggins came up big in the second inning for the Bandits with a 3-run home run, scoring Kimi Pohlman and Eri Yamada.

The Comets answered in the top of the third with two runs of their own. Courtney Liddle reached first on a one-out walk, followed by singles from Amanda Kamekona, Bianca Mejia, and Brittany McKinney. The Bandits earned those runs back and then some in the bottom of the inning. Butler started off the inning with a double. Nerissa Meyers, Eri Yamada, and Vicky Galindo all cracked RBI hits before Lindsey Richardson came into the game for the Comets to relieve starter Olivia Galoti. By the end of the inning, the Bandits led 7-2.
