U of I president gets contract extension
University of Illinois trustees have extended university President Robert Easter’s contract by a year.
Trustees on Thursday in Chicago agreed to a deal that keeps Easter as president through June 2015.
The new deal will also give the 65-year-old a raise and make him eligible for performance bonuses. The university hasn’t disclosed the amount of the raise or potential size of the bonuses. Easter is now paid $450,000 a year.
Easter was named president in March 2012 and planned at the time to keep the job only until June 2014.
Easter replaced Michael Hogan, who resigned under pressure from faculty who were unhappy over his plans for the university.
