Year-round school in Elk Grove begins new year

The Ridge Family Center for Learning, a year-round school in Elk Grove Village, welcomed in the 2013-14 school year at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

All families were invited to spend the first day with their child, with classes ending at 2:30 p.m.

Students from across the district are eligible to attend the school at 650 Ridge Ave. Aside from its year-round calendar, the school offers an extended learning day that runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., full-day kindergarten, problem-based learning experiences, and active parent involvement in the educational process. It is part of Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59.

Ridge parents met with their child’s teacher, and also with the principal and other staff for orientation regarding expectations for students and parents.
